I just received my first Grizzly Tool. The crate was in good shape but the box for the sliding table was torn, good thing is that everything inside the box looks good. Here are a few pictures and will take more over the weekend when I assemble the saw. I will let you all know more in the next few days. This is my first attemp to post pictures so I hope it works.

Regards!
Ed

Well the saw is assembled and wired up, all went well and I did not have any missing or damaged parts. The steel, cast iron, aluminum and powder coated paint are all excellant quality. The aluminum slider is really nice and glides really smooth. The slider extension table and fence are really built heavy duty. It has a nice angle scale and 2 very nice fence stops. The rip fence is a 2 position "Hi and Low" fence. The fence glides fairly smooth but not as smooth as my unifence, maybe some fine tuning will make it better....it does lock down ridgid. The miter gauge is built heavy duty and has a standard OEM scale, it also has a large hold down clamp. The blade access is really nice and roomy, the swing cover has a safety switch and if its left open the saw won't start. The riving knife is nice and is working with my thin kerf blades. My thin kerf blade is .100 wide and if it were narrower than .100 then the riving knife won't work. The trunions are really heavy duty and has a nice dust port built into the housung around the blade. The blade cover is large with a dust port and what I don't like about it is you can't see through it...."there may be a shark guard in my future". The switch is a standard one with an off button that ypu can bump with your knee, it actually has 2 off switch locations. The motor is a large 5 hp and drives both the blade and scoring blade. I don't have the scoring blade adjusted yet to see how well it works, but I'm sure it will work really nice. I turned on the saw and its really quite and smooth. It has pleanty of power to cut the hardest woods. I used the slider to cut a piece of plywood, used the 5 step method and the slider is set dead square from the factory. Overall I'm really happy with the saw and its quality, plus the grizzly customer service was great when I placed the order. I will let you all know more when I get some more use with the saw. Here are some more pictures.

Nice slider. Grizzly has put a lot of work into their quality IMHO. Congrats on a great saw.

I've always wanted to know what it looks like actually using this type of saw. Could you take some pictures cutting (or acting like) wood? Cross cut and ripping? It seems like the slider would get in the way of ripping. I just can't vision it.

Congrats Ed! Looks like a darned decent saw. I'm glad that Griz is providing competition for the other guys. Slider saws are fantastic tools, and Griz's price point fills a void that may get more of these machines out there. I'm curious as to the sliding table bearing system and support. I suspect that the table is attached to the saw with long all thread bolts to provide adjustment? Are the bearings full length of the sliding table? Maybe a photo of the underside of the table?

My slider is a Felder, I've never regreted buying this technology, and I suspect that you won't either, have fun!

Wow! That looks like some nice machinery.

I often wonder why I don't see more of these types of panel saws around now that the Asian market is engaged. When I consider the cost of the new Delta Unisaw at $2,800, and a SawStop at even more cost, this panel saw seems like a better deal in regard to safety and convenience. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Ed,
Any news on the saw? How sturdy and accurate is the main crosscut fence? Does the main crosscut fence get secured from below to the outrigger table to maintain angle? How sturdy is the outrigger table? Does the clamp cause issues that it has to be turned instead of flipped down to secure stock?

Any update or news on this saw now that you've had it for a while? I'm considering this saw currently and any feedback from a user would be greatly appreciated both the good and bad.

congrats on the new saw. You will love it but it is really different using a slider. You might try putting the table and fence at the other end of the slider and see how you like it. For straighlining solid stock it works great. I like it at the far end for sheetgoods also. That way i'm pushing the sheet of ply against the fence as I cut it.

I've had this saw for 3 1/2 months now and really do like it, the quality is really nice. I think you get a lot of saw and features for the price. You can use an 8" dado blade, the manual does not say this but it can be done. This is my first Grizzly tool and won't be the last, I'm happy with it and the customer service has been great. Have a safe 4th!

Regards!

I always wanted to be the first to say "you suck". Wow, what a saw. We really want to see picks of it in "action" and the results too! That qualifies for a "gloat +".

What is the widest dado that you can fit on the arbor?

It's about time one of those appeared here~!!
There's not one reason that Grizz can't put a real contender in the slider game.

I'm curious about that green drop tube on the outfeed end of the slider carriage. What's that? a support?

The carriage is pretty long. How much table travel does it allow?
A touch over 8"?

The arbor is long enough to do full dados at 13/16". The long square tube at each end are slider table supports, they have adjustable pads at the base for uneven floors. Mine is on a mobile base and when I need to move the saw I move the pads up and move the saw.
