Was wondering if you could plane a 3/4 birch plywood on the edge or will it screw it up. Thanks for the advice Joe

Sure, you can but the glue will tear up your plane iron something fierce. Plan on regrinding the iron when you're done. If you need to do multiple edges you'll likely need to regrind several times during the process as the first edge you plane will likely ruin the iron for the next edge. Man made materials are very hard on edge tools.

I use the LN No. 95 -- Bronze edge plane - for Ply. It's fence helps you keep a right angle and the blade is skewed and low angle so no tear out and planes like a champ. My blade remains in good shape even after many stokes. Of course the glue does dull it faster than if you were just planing maple or cherry.

I used my LV low angle jack to plane some birch plywood. It did dull the blade faster than usual, but I didn't need to regrind it.

Cheers,

Chris
