In this thread, http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=25465&highlight=holdfast entry #12 suggests using 1/2" pipe clamps instead of holdfast in your bench to prevent enlarging the holes.
It seems like a workable idea to me but my question is: Isn't the OD of 1/2" pipe larger than 3/4"? The size of the dog holes.
