My father is way too good to me. I was looking to borrow a 1/2" or 3/4" diameter drill press sanding drum or borrow time on his oscillating sander. But he told me he hadn't used the oscillating sander in two years as it just didn't get the job done for him. He brought it over tonight to add to my shop (or maybe more precisely, to get it out of his). But the sander only has two drums (1/2" and 1") and no manual (yet any way, he's going to look). It looks like there should be 5-6 drum sizes for it based on the insert rings (6 of them in all) and the drum holder pegs on the base.

Does anyone know where I might be able to download a manual for the Craftsman Oscillating Spindle Sander Model 315.215700? Secondly, if you have or had one, how many sanding drums did it come with? Finally, where can I get replacement drums for the machine? Don't say Sears Parts. I looked and the only one they had (now discontinued) was the 1" drum and don't list any others.

Try this link. I have a Sears model (have had it for years...) and this is where I order my rubber inserts and sanding drums from. From the look of the unit, it is a exact copy or knock off of the Sears unit. I believe that Wilton also makes a similar unit and may have parts as well.

Wow! Better and faster customer service from the 'creek than from Sears.

No not really. Does anyone know how many spindle drums this unit originally same with? I'm trying to determine if my father is on a wild goose chase looking for drums that he may not have.

Are there any manuals available on line for this machine?

I believe that it came with either 5 or 6 different sizes originally.

Update, I found the ones that would fit. They come from Grizzly tools. The part numbers are 1'' - P0538004-3 $6.50 / the 1 1/2" -P0538004-4 $8.25/ the 3'' is - P0538004-6 $15.50. I purchased these because I had the other two and just tried them out today and they work perfect. They are the exact fit and they are the right length 4 1/2". I also had a lot of Bosch sanding sleeves and they fit as well just perfect. I hope this helps someone out there that may need the rubber inserts for the Craftsman Oscillating Spindle Sander Model 315.215700. I did not order the 3/4" or the 2" but if you look up those part numbers you will find all 5 rubber sleeves and if these 3 fit like a glove then the other two should fit just as well.
