Hi All,

I posted this project on the turning forum, but I thought a post here also, might be in order.

Stablized big leaf maple; I got the idea for using stablized wood for chisel handles from Dave Jeske's Blue Spruce Toolworks display at Woodworking in America 08 in Berea, KY. Here's how they turned out.:D My first attempt at socket chisel handles.

Those handles look beautiful, George. But they sure don't look like your first socket chisel handles! :D BTW, how did you stabilize the maple?

They are incredible
How are they stabilized and what did you do to finish them?

Beautiful handles! I'm about to make some myself, and I too would like to know how to do the stabilization/resin impregnation. Thanks, J.D.

I purchased stabilized game call blanks (1 1/2 x 6). I don't know how the process was done. The handles were sanded to 400 grit and then buffed with the Beall system.

Thanks for all the kind words.:D
