Box for a friend's mom

A friend of mine, actually one of 5 sisters who used to be, at various times, my former students, . . . what a convoluted phrase,

anyhow, their mom is turning 81 today, so here is the box I made for her this week

Walnut with a home made inlay in the front, Maple inlay on the top, sides rounded off with the table saw and ROS.

Finish, Watco danish, then spray on Poly, then wax. I hope she will like it.

I don't agree with her, but we seldom do agree on art, or wood working ! I'm making a run of three more right now out of chery, walnut and curly maple. I'll post them when I'm done.
