Hey -

I'm trying to replace a wheel on a 20+ yr old craftsman bench grinder, and there doesn't seem to be any type of way to chock teh wheel so I can loosen the nut. This is my first time doing this, so don't assume I know the basics!
Thanks!

Try using wooden wedges that get pulled into the direction of potential rotation when you go to loosen the nuts. You may want to use a little penetrating oil on the nuts, too.

I used a pair of vice grip pliers to hold the stone. You have to do it carefully. Just enough pressure to hold the wheel so you don't crack it.

You may have a reverse thread nut? Just a thought.

Don't forget, the right nut will me right hand thread and the left nut will thread backwards. Therefore, if you put a wrench on both nuts and loosten ( the normal way) at least one side will come loose.

Success! I was able to wedge the wheel and break the seal. Much thanks!
