Hello.

I have an engraving studio that lasers laptops, cell phones, leather journals, etc. I have only been open a month. I have had a client request photo albums. I have scoured the internet without much luck.

Can anyone direct me to a resource for a "laserable" photo albums that are under $15? Any more material suggestions are welcome, aluminum, wood albums?

Thanks.

John,

I've used Colorado Heirlooms, they have 2 or 3 sizes, sorry don't have the info at home, but they are beautiful. I made one of all of my husbands children & they loved them.

Second that - we use them exclusively for any wood projects. The price list used to be covertly hidden on their Web site but looks like since the layout has changed the curious might have to request one by email.

Thank you for the help. I will check into it.

John, I've gotten nice leather photo albums from Walmart at very cheap prices, like $ 2-10 depending on what you want and when you go (sales).

cheers, dee

Actually, JDS just released some new ones this year that annodized aluminum for great etching... Haven't bought any yet, but saw them in the 2009 catalog I just got...

Thanks Stephen...I'll have to check that out. I just received my JDS catalog the other day but have not had a chance to look through it.

Yea - "over 400 new items" and it's like cable - so many channels to choose from, I don't know what to watch... It's always a pain to find stuff I need in the pages from year to year - I think it's some print/layout editor's cruel joke to change it just enough to confuse me every year.

Stephen,

What page? I can't seem to find them.

Hi Stephen,

I'm with Anthony, I cannot find the photo albums in the new JDS catalog. I'd definitely be interested in checking them out.

Me too! I've looked through page by page twice, and can't find them. Did you get a "special" catalog?

Dave Kurt

There are no photo albums in the new catalog - he must have confused it with their new metal photo frames.

These are photo "frames" not albums.

Has anyone had success reaching Richwood (http://www.richwoodline.com) recently? I sent an email last week asking about prices since none are listed, and then checked their Web site again today - most pages have broken links/pictures indicating the site may not be maintained.

Hi, I just did my first lasered gift and it was an album from laserbits. I am still learning corel, I never realized how time poor I am. Doug

I hear Titan Industries, Inc. - new to the market - will be having several photo albums and books to choose from as well as other consumables. They have some stock now but should be fully operational by mid-August.

Cliff,

Do you have any contact info on them? Maybe a website?

Good job! Did the client supply the artwork or did you recreate it?

Update: I heard back from Kevin Warren @ Richwood:

1-877-215-8936 toll free
519-846-2218 local
1-519-846-2801 fax
richwoodline.com Pro: Not too thrilled about having to purchase 24 pieces at one time, but that definitely puts his prices per piece at least $5 less than Laserbits, even with shipping cost.
Con: Only 2 photo albums to choose from, one of which is missing an image so who knows what it looks like.

Very nice looking album, Doug! I think you did a fine job on it, especially for your first time. Those wooden albums are hard to find for a decent price, but they make superior gifts for special occasions like weddings and such.

Did you do the design yourself or was it a school logo/layout already? Looks like you got some real depth to the engraving, too.

cheers, dee

Dave and Dee, The emblem was a school logo but I had to do some additions to it to get it engrave the way I wanted. I think these were around $8.85 from laserbits. Me and the wife plan on keeping these on hand for special occasions. Thanks for the kind words! Doug

I just purchased on from Laser Bits as well. It will be here Monday and I plan to do a Wedding Album for a niece.

Carol, I had to add a piece of foam inside along with the spacer they provided to level the front of the album. I also used rubberbands to hold the album square while engraving. This may help keep everything nice and straight. Doug
