We were recently approached by a client that would like this guitar engraved. http://www.instrumentalsavings.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=STG-X400-BK&click=2
With a black coating, does anyone know if there is light primer underneath?
We could engrave it and then use a color fill, but would we need to put a clear coat of some type back over the top?
Thanks,
David

David,
I can't help with the coatings but here is video marking a guitar. That may give you some insight.

Dave,
That's funny....
We made that video. The problem is the electric guitar is quite different in color (and I am assuming coating too).
Thanks,
David

I dont know about this guitar but most solid color guitars have a synthetic primer under the top coat.....normally gray or black

I have done a number of custom faces for electric Guitars, but have not engraved the actual guitar itself..
