Hello all. Nice forum, been watching for awhile.

I am a hobbiest turned professional 3 years back. I could not sell enough furniture to pay the bills so I build cabinets now. Paying the bills a little faster now but still cutting my way through the self-employed learning curve. And now I don't have the time and I guess energy to build things for myself and family. But I still love it.
How many of you derive your income form woodworking?

One newbie to another, welcome to the creek. I've found it to be a great bunch of people, supportive, and with a sense of humor.

Roger,
Welcome to the creek! You will find us all friendly and eager to provide you with plenty of conflicting advice:) I really don't know how many of us here are pros (certainly not me!) but there are quite a few. It's a pretty good mix.
What part of the world are you from?

Larry

I live in the high desert in Southern California. It was about 105 here yesterday with about 10% humidity. I am originally from New Jersey. Moved here in 1975 and would not go back. (sorry people from N.J. you can keep the snow and 95% humidity)

Welcome Roger, been working on wood since '73. On my own since '82. And you'll find cabinets pay better but furniture is much more rewarding.

Welcome, Roger. Hobbiest now. May try for some commissions "someday", but probably never full time...
