A friend gave me 2 big pieces ( 28" X 73" ) and several smaller pieces of sycamore, a piece of juniper 18 X 18 and a piece of pecan.... now I have to get this stuff out of the truck ( its over a thousand pounds )

Charlie, we do have juniper....I just learned this a few days ago....I thought juniper was only a bush

In the last year I have found that we have more speices than I ever knew of... I think they just hide in the woods

The most common juniper in the east is eastern red cedar. Southern juniper is a variety of that and my be what you have.

We have a lot of juniper here in Wyoming. I like it, it is just really hard on turning tools. There is a lot of sand in it as you turn. We have rocky mountain juniper (red cedar) and Utah juniper. It is yellowish with almost black grain. If anyone wants pics, let me know!

I have a ton of red cedar ( literally ) but I would like to see the the Utah juniper
