Gentlemen,
Have any of you ever used Flamingo veneers before, and if so does anybody know why their site is a total blackout now? I have used them in the past and they seemed like a substantial business, but I haven't been able to get the site to work. Anybody know what's going on with them??

It no longer exists. It was purchased from Frank Polero (sp?) from a gentleman out here in California. He brought the inventory to San Jose CA and remained open only for a little while (maybe a year?) then closed it down. He had a sale right before he closed it down. The remainder of the inventory was purchased by the guy that has the lease on the building and runs Saratoga Tree Service in San Jose, CA. I think he sells it on his website. I'll have to find his website for you.

Found it after I posted the above:

Mabby,
Thanks for your prompt reply. That's really a shame as they did a good job when I ordered from them. Anybody care to comment on where they prefer to get their higher grade veeners from these days?

Wendell

Manny,
Sorry for the "Mabby" thing. Fingers too big, keys too small.

Hi Wendell,

One of the better sources for quality veneer is Certainly Wood - their URL is http://www.certainlywood.com. My personal favorite is B&B Rare Woods at http://www.wood-veneers.com/ - they may not have as much inventory but the owner (Dave) will usually take the time to pull out veneer flitches while on the phone and describe each before I place my order. I have also found some good buys on ebay from a seller with the username "thouge".

Cheers,
Roger
