Hello All
Back with another square edged bowl. It's the first time I turn such a bowl.
When I discovered on the web, in the gallery of a New Zealand turner Terry Scott (very valuable to visit) I did not understand which way he made this and I thought a lot before discovering a way to turn this curiosity.
This bowl would be better (the wings are not exactly the same thickness along) but it looks correct and I made it.
Just sanded, I've not yet choose the finish I'll apply. I intend use it for food (peanuts, pistachios...)
The bowl is wild cherry tree, 125 X 125 X 55 mm - completed 25 feb 2009

Nice square bowl. I haven't even attempted these yet. Good job for your first one.

Lionel, Very nice, I think I have it figured out so I will try one and see if my thoughts are correct! Let us see it after the finish.

Simple really! He just grabbed hold of one corner with a pair of vise grips and bent it down... ;)

Lionel, a very nice piece! I would also be very interested how you turned it. I have a lot trouble picturing things in abstract. Guess that is why some of us find it very hard to make the jump from craft to art. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice work Lionel! Love working with cherry and this piece will only get better looking over time! Great job on the wings - very smooth change in the curve of the bowl to the wings! Would really like to see a photo of it once you have it finished!
