Thanks for your help...this may be an obvious answer but I am stumped. I have inheretted my grandfather's hand plane...I can only find two identifying marks. First, "No. 5 1/2" at front of plane, like what you see of many stanley's etc.........no other mark found on body. (This is about the size of a stanley no. 5.) It has a corrogated sole. The only other mark is on the the piece that the blade is screwed to for support...it as the image of a blacksmith's anvil, with the word trademark surrounding it, and within the anvil body, the letters R and T, with a "O" within an "O" below it.
I am curious who made this plane and even if it is old.
