Here is the Miller Falls type 10. Now I need to sharpen both of them.

Mike

They came out very well. They're both nice planes, so get 'em sharpened and put 'em back to work.;)

I just put 2 planes down in a Citric Acid bath. I meant to snag some of this stuff to try it, looks like I'll have to now. Citric Acid was hard for me to find and this jar was only 1#.

For the citric acid, did you try a wine making supply or beer making supplier?

Do they have those in your area?

I got mine from a somewhat local winery. $15 for the #1 jar and that was all they had for sell that day. They used to stock way more stuff for home brewing and wine making but not so much now though they are growing nicely. The 2 planes I put in the Acid are shaping up nice but the 4 1/2 is pitted more than I thought and I still have a stuck screw on the frog.

I just bought evaporust - have not used it yet.

How long did you leave them in?

I was thinking I would use a small plastic bucket

I use a plastic 6qt tupperware container. I left them in 6hours based on what I thought the level of rust was on them. Two last night I left overnight as they were worse. 30min to 24hours is what the instructions say. Take a guess and if it is not long enough put it back in.

I got citric acid at a health food store in the spices, not very expensive.
Cheers Ron.

A little off topic but will Evaporust harm an etch on a saw?
