1. Can the WorkSharp (either 2000 or 3000) sharpen jointer or planer blades?

2. Does any one have the Grizzly G2017 http://www.grizzly.com/products/Blade-Sharpener/G2017 (looks like it's made by Makita in the photo) and what are your thoughts on it?

3. What are the advantages/disadvatages of the two systems Grizzly G2017 and WorkSharp 3000?

The Worksharp machines are better suited to hand-grinding chisels and plane irons than jointer/planer blades. The Makita you mention is good for longer jointer/planer blades, because of its fine adjustment and long sliding fixture. It also has water-cooling to help prevent burning.

I bought my Makita used about 10 yrs. ago. Has been a workhorse, and I'd buy it again. Don't use it every day, but there's nothin' like it when ya need it. Get a second coarse wheel too.

I've had the Makita for over a decade.

I use it primarily to sharpen jointer and planer blades (does my 15" planer blades safely) .....and getting out nicks/regrinding a basic bevel.......so it gets infrequent use

....otherwise I use stationary artificial and natural waterstones and a strop for honing.....

...because it uses water for cooling there isn't an overheating/sparks issue but dealing with the water reservoir/drainage is a bit of a production....

like the worksharp (and any other horizontal motorized sharpener) you can buy/build a platform so that you can use a generic honing guide on the machine and then transfer that exact same registration of the blade angle to a stationary sharpening media (like waterstones, etc.) to further refine the edge....

www.highlandwoodworking.com has the three grit level of stones for the Makita and a good tutorial on its use on their library page....

...you might want to look up the website for the Lap-Sharp for good information on exotic sharpening media that would be relevant to Worksharp and Veritas machines......

there are many ways to do sharpening/honing and they all work, involve trade offs of convenience, time, money(up front or on an ongoing basis); Worksharp appears to be today's popular machine/method as was "scary sharp" a few years ago.....

good luck
