WOW! Excellent work.. nice use of the Tiger Maple.
I like all the elements you've created to make this piece a classic.
Being a Black belt in Tae Kwon Do myself, this gives me some ideas.

Nice piece! Its inspired me to design one for my son's belts.
He's only a few belts away from his first black belt.
Thanks for sharing!

Excellent job and very striking, William. The maple really compliments the color in the belts itself..

That's great work man! I like the moulding and the inlay also. was that legit turquoise or that inlace stuff? (I'm still learning things here and there) Did you use CA glue for the inlay or ??

William, thank you for the detailed pictures. I'm thinking of making something like this for a friend's son for Christmas. Your pictures will help with my design.

That is crushed turquoise and CA glue. If your interested, the process is outlined at -- http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=103814 Included is another link where Dewey Torres provides a step by step tutorial.

Thanks all for your kind and generous comments. The recipient said it was "awesome" so I guess she liked it.
The project is a simple box with shelves that I tried to dress up and make special for her achievements. The inlay and carved molding are "firsts" in my woodworking. It was an enjoyable experience.
And Jim K-- stay out of back alleys:eek:

Wow - very nice work. I have been wanting to do something for my sons to display their belts and this might just have pushed me over the edge.
