I know the PM 65 isn't as well-known as the 66, but is this a good deal?

Looking at the fence it looks like it's had a lot of use. If the motor is blown I would wonder what else might be.

Figure on $300 for a new motor and another $100 for belt and bearings and another $100 for whatever and that is a $1,000 saw. A little on the high side, especially if there are other hidden problems. You could buy a brand new Grizzly 1023 or so for a little more.

Jason,

I found a Powermatic 66 listed in the local CL. It is a one-owner (hobbyist) saw built in 1994 and runs smooth. The details:
3HP / Single Phase / 230V
2 Cast iron wings with extension table & legs
Router plate in table extension
50" T-square fence
Left tilt
Mobile base
5 blades (one new, all sharp)
Freud Dado SD208
Various push sticks.

My old saw (Ryobi BT3000) has problems and is getting difficult to use so the timing was right and I was happy to get it for $800.00.

Hope this helps in your decision. Vince in NC

yeah that is quite a deal. i paid 1000 for my 66, no extension tables, but it does have a 5hp motor rather than the 3hp. the only blade that came with it was worn to the point that it couldn't even be sharpened anymore.

so yeah i'd say you made out like a bandit ;).
