I am trying to make a wooden lid, much like the one in this picture, http://www.koamart.com/images/products/2247_enlarged.gif but I am unsure of what kind of wood to use. i am thinking some kind of light weight wood, the finished thickness will be a 1/2" or so, that can handle a heavy amount of steam on a regular basis. any suggestions? :o

Would Bamboo be the right choice here? I'm sure it will handle all the moisture it's subjected to. Rockler is now has it in stock. Also look here:

Another source; buy a bamboo cutting board for the material you need to make the lid.
