Has anyone tried to mount a Wixey planer guage to a open end drum sander, think it would work. Just wondering

Hi, I don't see why it wouldn't, although you may not get accuracy down to 0.001" with a sander.

yes, i've done it and it works well although i don't find myself using it nearly as often as i thought i would. it works well on the planer too.

I have one on a planer and use the heck out of it. I would think that just the variation in grit size on the sandpaper would make a gauge this accurate a little over kill. Just the compression of the transport belt has to be more than a few thou(?). There I go again, talking through my hat.
