I'm working on cleaning up some old Disston saws I picked up recently. I'm currently working on Disston D-100 that dates back to the early 20's. It has the Apple wood handle with the wheat pattern. There is no finish on it that I can tell. I usually put a wipe on poly on handles but was wondering how wax would be as a finish? Never done it but it was a thought. I have a liquid Johnson no buff floor wood wax I thought about trying.

Anyone ever used wax as a finish?

Wax will soon look dirty. Use a real, hardening finish like you have been using.

Ok I'll stick with what I've been using, don't really want the grungy look back after I just got rid of it.
