hi-
i need to figure out how to drill a centered hole in the end of several dowels. i tried to do it free hand but that not work:(
does anyone have an ideas on how to set up a jig for my drill press? i'm drilling 1/4 - 5/16" holes into 3/4" cherry dowels.
thanks

How long are your dowels, like 6" a foot, 3 feet?
That will make a difference in how you set things up.
For shorter dowels just cut a V in a 2x4, clamp it to the table of the drill press at the point were the bit hits the center of the dowel. Now just clamp the dowel in the V and drill it.

I use a drill press vise with the dowel up thru a hole in the DP table. Had a pic, but the site won't post it.

This is the way I would do it with only 4 inch long dowels. I have never done it will dowels but I have made a lot of item almost like that with metal rod, like 50 at a time.
