Somehow, I don't think the economy changed that much overnight. Has anyone actually seen this or is a J/PSO (Jointer / Planer Shaped Object)?

This probably isn't what people mean by "get something more than a 6" jointer if possible". Why not settle for the 8" desktop Jointer/Planer for $339?

I sense the same kind of "deal" as my first "table saw", the smaller Ryobi (not the big 3100) that I bought in 2002 on sale for $79 at Home Depot. Used it until it scared me into buying a cabinet saw.

I believe there was another post about the 10 inch combo recently. This is a new product so probably it will be a bit before we get reviews.

I believe one comment was that the fence for the jointer was fixed at its position. It could tilt but not move in or out, meaning all the jointing would be along the right edge of the knives perhaps causing premature wear in one spot.

Thanks, Mark. I found it and don't need a second thread, so here is the link to the earlier thread:

I saw the 10" JP combo today at woodcraft. It looks like a lunchbox planer with very short jointer tables affixed to the top cover. I was not impressed. It would do for a portable planer/jointer for jobsite work, but not for the mainstay in the shop.

I have a Makita J/P that I use on job sites, and although it is a bit more expensive than that, it is an awesome machine when its limits are realized. I am not sure they even make it anymore, I have not seen them advertised lately now that I think about it.

That's funny -- I have a 10" J/P combo, and it's a mainstay in my shop.

I'd love to have a 10" j/p combo...just not that one. 24 " infeed/outfeed tables are a little short.
