Jim,

If you run a search on this topic you should find several threads, as it has been around. You can buy a switch like the one you showed, or you make your own for about $15. Just follow the directions in the manual and you can buy the parts at any hardware store.

You can find one woodturner's approach to building a remote switch for the Powermatic 3520B at the Mustard Monster web site - http://docs.google.com/View?docID=d4b7vjd_22cwwph2&revision=_latest

The price of $82.35 for the Powermatic remote switch that you found is cheaper than Olsonik's price of $99.95 for the same switch. You might check with the Tool Nut to see what they're selling the switch for

a guy at my club took the entire (on/off, fwd/rvs, variable speed) section off his headstock, that plate, along with all the stuff behind it will fit into one of these http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100146504&N=10000003+90004+500158

except he had the pvc one. then he used that cover and put it on the headstock.

ran about 4 feet of wire back to the headstock, and now he can operate anything on his lathe from anywhere.

he mainly wanted it because he uses his duplicator a lot.

sorry i dont have pics, i could posibly give you his email if it would help. i dont know how he did the wireing, i think it could be pretty easy though. his came out real clean and real professional looking for about 15 bucks.

shoot, you could probably throw an on/off switch back in the headstock hole too. good luck.

Thanks everyone for the help. That's going to be my next 'tech update' project. jg
