This is the first bowl from a walnut tree that was taken down at Liberty Country Club last year. What was left behind was a large double crotch piece that I have been eyeing all year from the 4th tee box. The piece was about 2 1/2 feet across at the butt end and had double crotches parallel to each other. Armed with only my 18" Poulan saw, I began to whittle away at it. I have it down to a single crotch piece that at last check was still frozen into the ground, but I WILL get the rest of it! This first bowl came off just above one of the crotches and has a little curl to it. It ended up at 11" x 5", finished in home brew oil, EEE polish and ren wax.
As always comments/critiques welcome, thanks for looking.

Steve - nice size to the bowl! Beautiful wood - I can see why you would keep after it until you got it all! Love the curl - sure adds to the look! Very nice work!

Excellent! A nice hefty bowl. Love the form and the grain action here. Gonna fill it with a golf ball display? I know how you golfers are...Bill..

Steven I sure do like this one. I really like working with walnut. I know that it grows around here but I can never seem to find any.
