Our area got hit with some impressive winds last summer when a "twister" almost touched down...... I helped some folks from church clean up their yard and got about 1 1/2 cords of firewood for my trouble. This bowl is turned from a piece of elm that the wife's father planted back in 1915 or so.............

8 1/2 x 3 1/4....sanded thru 800 on inside, wire brushed on outside. Walnut oil finish, no buff.

Russian Olive............this piece was REALLY checked bad, but got something out of it.
5 1/4 x 2 1/2 Walnut Oil finish.

Walnut from my free tree score a few months ago.....the sap is sooooooo white!
6 3/4 x 2 3/4 Walnut Oil finish.

And some more Hackberry..... Sanded thru 800 on inside, outside wire brushed AND with no bottom.....it wobbles but don't fall down!

5 1/2 x 2 1/2 Walnut Oil finish........

Wow - that's some beautiful work Barry!

Great looking Elm! Love the swirl patterns on the inside! Also interesting contrast between inside/outside finishes. Has to be pretty cool to hold!

The Russian Olive is amazing! Looks like a striped walnut! Real rich color! Nice form - glad you were able to save it!

The Walnut sapwood is almost shocking it is so white! What's up with that? Neat effect!

Really like the Hackberry! Great form, beautiful grain and colors! Also like the rounded bottom - just to be different. You did a good job on centering it because the bowl sits straight.

Nice work! Seriously - nice work on all of these!
