It was a pain to sand.

Very nice bowl Toney! Great looking wood! Really like how the entire piece changes with just a small change in viewing angle! Got a little bit of everything working for it here - color, figure, heartwood, bark inclusion and a major void! Nice - really nice!

All the best.

Very nice... and I would imagine that the "pain to sand" could have been quite literal if you caught one of those open edges wrong!

looks great---must admit when I saw the first pic i thought "thank goodness I am not he only one that has the rim warp on me"--then wamo! I saw the second pic and realized what I was seeing---looks great ---it must have taken some real patience and care to complete

Toney that bowl has a real beauty about it. It has a little of everything.

My first thought was the old saying, "If it won't hold soup, it must be art!"
That makes for a very artsy bowl.

Very nice Toney! Did you sand it off the lathe?

John,
I wondered if anyone would notice that I left just a hair of the back lip to be seen in the front profile shot. Just a little teaser. You noticed small details!!:D
Bill,
Most of this was sanded with the lathe OFF. I like my fingers.
Thanks to all for the comments.

Toney,
Well done. I know how hard it is the turn and sand a bowl like that one. Form and finish look really great.

Nice work, Toney. Love the quilting! I also like the void. Pieces like this are eyecatchers, if not sometimes finger catchers! ;) Keep up the good turning.
