Some time ago I ran across an article about how to build a kiln for drying rough turned bowl blanks from an old freezer. I inherited an old freezer, but now can't find the article. Can anyone help?

Thanks Dewey but that wasn't the one. Similar idea, but the one I was thinking of had instructions for wiring in a thermostat. Hope someone else can come up with it

not what your looking for, but i know guys that put an aquarium air pump line into a hollow form along with a hanging light bulb (like a christmas light but a little larger) then wrap the outside with brown paper, they say it dries the HF out from the inside a lot faster with little to no losses. just an idea if your thinking of doing HF's

There is an excellent article by our own Dennis Daudelin over here--->

Perhaps thats the one? I used the article as a guide to build mine. Havent tried it out yet officially but it should be full of blanks soon.

I am looking at building one of those also. Thanks for the info Steve and Dewey. I will start a new thread as not to hijack this one for my question.

Jim when you get to use yours let me know how it works out. I am thinking of a old freezer or building one. Would use it for bowls, lidded boxes, peppermills, etc.

Will do Bernie, hopefully in a week or two I will fire it up for the first time. If I can get enough blanks roughed between now and then that is!!
