Simple tip for the newer guys:

Various jigs and accessories are easily squared up by using a Carpenter square in the miter slot of the table saw. The tip: this is made even easier by simply cutting a piece of hardwood to fit snugly in the slot, sticking up a half inch or so. Now you don't have to hole the square up on one end to keep it against the side of the slot. It is much easier to align things, like the crosscut fence on a sliding table, or your regular fence.

Bonus tip:

When you buy plastic knobs for jigs, fences, etc, buy the ones that are open on the top, and let the thread of the bolt go through. This makes it a lot easier than stacking washers, or cutting off a slightly too long bolt.
