Hi everyone
Here is my latest experiment. I wanted to turn something with different grain directions, and see how the joints look and work. The bottom and top are one piece of maple laid flat. The main body is two pieces of zebra wood glued together. The ring is 4 segments of cocobolo, which gave me the added challenge of mixing two very different types of wood.
The overall idea was to make it look like the cocobolo was a ring around the zebra wood, so it appears that the zebra goes through the cocobolo. The vase is about 8 inches finished with shellawax.
