View Full Version : Always Goes To The Bottom Of The Page! Why?

Does anyone know why, every time I open the topic "General Woodworking and Power Tools" it opens at the very bottom of the page? All of the other Sawmill Creek topics open at the top like normal.

This just started a couple of days ago.

Thanks,
Jim

It's been driving me nuts too. I thought it was just my computer. I did every thing I could think of to fix the problem on my end and it just kept doing it. Then I figured it has to be the site. This is the only web site it does it on.

Check your settings under your "User CP" and even if they look fine, fiddle with them to change something and then change it back. See if that helps.

Mine just started doing it again. I am not having any other issues with other forum sites. Just this one.

Works ok for me. I'm using Firefox.

Mixed results for me:

On my home machine, about the third or fourth thread I check, it will start jumping to the bottom of the page. Only threads, never indexes pages. Started this a week ago. Using Window XP and IE 7.

On my office machine, had not done this yet.

Does this behavior happen only in threads with attachments (pictures)?

I could be an incompatibility with IE7 and the "lightbox" style of picture display (that I think uses Flash animation). Or some other feature. My version of IE7 seems to work OK (I use Firefox most of the time). You might try making sure IE7 is updated to make sure any new flash add-ons are present.

Just a stab in the dark but is anyone else with this issue running Norton 360 V2?

Richard I am running that. I haven't tried turning it off too see if it solves the problems. Its is getting real annoying. Weird thing is the creek is the only site I have a problem with and it just started about 2 weeks ago or so.

Yes and yes. Any idea what's going on?

It is annoying. I do know that this version of Norton has reportedly had some issues. I have had issues with IE freezing since installing Norton 360 V2. It is being discussed, and cussed on a few sites. The fix in somewhat involved and so I've decided to live with it for now.

That does not mean that that is the issue at hand here - but maybe there is a relationship. Also as some others have mentioned, this is the only site where I have seen this.

I don't use Norton's and this happens off and own but only on SMC! It's annoying!

I just noticed it as well. It only happens when I have ads turned on. When I turn 'em off, the problem goes away.

That's interesting ... and kind of makes sense. Sometimes the browsers will jump to the javascript that some ads are made of (I have ads turned off, so I never see it).

Those of you who are contributors might try turning ads off to see if it helps.
