Hi Matthew,
Well, I was just trying to figure out how to do a windmill the other day on my laser. I traced a photo of a really tiny one that somebody else made. I'm not sure how to attach the vanes or the tail, but I was thinking just to use a brad or finish nail. I'm attaching my cdr file if that helps you. It's not really correct, but you can make changes as needed. If this is not what you are looking for, a long time ago I did a search on whirligigs and I think I found some patterns. Good luck!:)

Matt, Welcome. It's very nice to see a young person intrested in woodworking. This is the place to get alot of helpful hints. I have seen wind vane and whirly gig plans at some of these sites. you may take a look. they may have what you want or something you could modify. www.winfieldcollection.com (http://www.winfieldcollection.com), or www.sherwoodcreationsinc.com,or www.wildwooddesigns.com (http://www.sherwoodcreationsinc.com,or www.wildwooddesigns.com) or www.cherrytreetoys.com (http://www.cherrytreetoys.com), or www.meiselwoodhobby.com (http://www.meiselwoodhobby.com), . I have used plans from Winfield and Sherwood maybe this will help. Happy Woodworking, Craig
