Here is a nice chunk of walnut from my FIL's woods. We had a friend mill a bunch for flat work, and eventually for turning. This was from an 8' piece that my FIL had decided not to use so I am using up some in bowl form.
Walnut, 8 3/4" x 3" with a few coats of Antique Oil, no buffing yet. Nice wood to work with and left a small amount of light sap wood, didn't quite center it the best but am happy with the outcome overall.
As usual, any and all comments welcome.

Allen - that is a good looking bowl! I don't know what you mean about not centering as the bottom of the bowl is great! Nice form and finish! This is nice work - keep it up!

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the comments. What I meant about centering was that the lighter sap wood is really only evident on the one side of the bowl. The blank did have a fairly equal amount on both sides so it only shows I was off of center, slightly!

Allen,
Nice bowl, the bottom does look particularly nice. I usually try to avoid sapwood on flat work, but it sure seems to look nice for contrast on a bowl.
Thanks for sharing.
