It's not the workbench I ultimately want to build, but at least I have an outfeed table and a place to hang my vise for now.

Allen,
One again your video work and sketchup skills have me floored:eek:. How can I learn how to make these little productions you do?

BTW nice table!

ALL you need is expertise with SketchUp, I am sure.

The rest is easily done with Camtasia Studio (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp), which is a computer screen recorder: Everything you do on-screen is recorded, then you render to final video, or incorporate into another video, as he has done. At THAT point you still need to render the video, add music, etc., and then upload it to Blip.tv, then embed on your web site or blog.

I hope I did not leave out anything...

Great guess Al !

Here is the full list:

1. video camera (in my case a sony vx2000)
2. Adobe Flash software to create flv and swf
3. google sketchup
4. camtasia to capture sketchup video
5. sony vegas video editing software
6. upload flv to blip.tv

Alan, nice-looking table and a wow of a production.

I have a workbench which is constructed similarly to yours. with a cantilevered overhang at one end and a vise that looks similar to yours mounted there. Mine is a Record 52 1/2D. I don't know what it weighs, but it has 9" wide jaws which open 13 1/4" and it's heavy enough that it bowed the tabletop down at that end. (The tabletop is constructed of two layers of birch plywood, 24" wide by about 6' long and the cantilever is as short as possible to fit the vise). I solved the problem by adding a single extra leg with an adjustable foot at that end of the table. I use the workbench for handplaning so I needed it to be flat.

Nice job Alan, I especially like the opening, very slick.

Hey Jules!
Thanks for the comments.

My vise is the exact same vise.

I was thinking that my vise "might" cause the table to bow, but I'm not overly concerned. I needed something quick and cheap. The table top is an old oval conference room table that I cut up. The top wasn't very flat anyway. I can always replace the top with something better in the future.

Nice bench, but I really like your trailer lift-that thing is sweet! Great video & music too.

Alan, thanks for the production. The table looks like a quick, easy project that will get the job done. I'm going to need something easy and quick like your table soon.

Look nice Allen and functional too. I have your same table saw and really like it.
