View Full Version : My first real project - hall table

Made it like 4 months ago. No plans were used, inspired from watching Norm videos and by available lumber.
Previous experience - ugly utility table for table saw and some shelving.
Wanted to do it from maple only but thought that 2x 3/4 laminated will not be thick enough for legs so i've sandwiched in 1/2 walnut strip. Biting my elbows now for using plywood for drawer sides, may redo some day. Finish is just clear water poly.

Welcome aboard.
I like the table, the stripe in the top was a good idea.

The combination of the lamination and the simple slim design make it a winner. I f have seen similar table entered in contests BTW!
Great job.

I like laminating pieces for legs too!
You have me pondering why you would implement that design?
I did something similar because I didn't want to match the grain of the wood in the legs, so I decided to break up the boundary with the laminated piece.
