I'm looking for someone to transfer a picture of Half-Dome in Yosemite National Park with some text using wood-burning onto a somewhat natural, rustic looking piece of wood. It's a wedding gift.

Do you have the picture you want?

What type of wood did you want it on? End grain log disk? Log plank with bark on/off?

Timeframe?

Try contacting SMC member Nancy Laird. She and Dave have a laser engraving business and can probably do it for you.

It is also best to pick a B&W photo as it has good contrasts that transfer well to burning.

Here are a few to check out:

Anyone with a laser could do it. Now as far as the Ansel Adams photos they are copyrighted, so it would be Ilegal to use those.

Only illegal if you sell them... if all you pay for is the labor and parts, no problem.

I know it's a long read, but check the definition of derivative works (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derivative_work) as regards to copyright. For example,
The Mona Lisa With a Moustache. Often used by law professors to illustrate legal concept of derivative work.HEY... who deleted the Ansel Adams photos???

I will forward this to my attorney in order to get a legal opinion of Copyright Derivative Works, but I do not anticipate a problem in regards to wood burning.
