Haven't been on the lathe in a couple of months ... been busy with finishing off two dressers.
My neighbor had an Ash tree taken down the other day and asked if i wanted any of the wood!

Well i could not take it anymore just letting those logs sit! Threw a blank on the lathe and made a couple of vases for the neighbors.

It was a nice change from making bowls, platters and pens.

The Ash cut like butter. Danish oil followed by wax buffed on.

Do these qualify as HFs?

Dewey,

That cracked me up! :D

They are a HF in the sense that there is a 1/2 drilled hole in them :p

True HF's are on the to-do list/learn list someday

Jim,
Glad you got a laugh so here is another...I wasn't kidding.

I am too new to know if a HF needs a closed style lid or if can be open (with a flare like your vases), or if a HF only needs to be hollow
