Advice needed installing stair handrail

I need to replace the stair handrail for code reasons. I found this video on This Old House's website that seems pretty thorough. Any thoughts or corrections on what he is showing?

I always like to make sure the returned ends finish on a stud and use 6" screws through the rail, returns and into the stud. Plug and sand. No matter how many brackets you use, you will always be able to move the handrail at the returned ends in they are not attached to studs.
By the way, rail height code is min. of 34", I think Tom said 32" to 34".
