This is from a dry piece of Spalted Hackberry from Kentucky with an Ebony Finial. The body is 3" dia. x 6-1/8" tall. With the finial it is 9-3/8" tall. Top opening is 1/2". Finished with antique oil and buffed. Comments/critiques always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Keith, that is beautiful. I love the form....did you hollow it ? that an awfully small hole to work through.

Outstanding work once again Keith! Beautiful wood and form - amazing finial! I struggle with a 1.25" opening - can't even get my hollowing tools into a 1/2" opening! Very nice!

It amazes me how you can bring out all the bests in everything you turn. The wood is beautiful and the form and finial are perfect both alone and with each other. And then to top it all off, a photo that lets it all shine through.

WOW,
I almost missed this one! The finial is great and really makes the piece. I have to learn how to do that.

Keith,
The lighting for this piece looks great and almost uniform. Can you share what you used for a light source and where it/they were positioned?

Ted, photography is kinda like turning, everybody does it different. I use a varigated background in a photo cube/tent I got off ebay. I have two 300 watt halogen lights directly above the tent, about 2' up. I will sometimes cover part of the top to change the light, and sometimes use a 25 watt light on the front bounced off a white board. Hope this helps.

Beautiful work, Keith.
I agree with others that the finial is superb and really sets off the piece.
