Pin Router

I am looking for a pin router <1K for pattern work - like building a clock from plastic patterns, a kit I bought a while ago and just discovered when looking for a light bulb for my spotlight. I found a plan in Popular Mechanics that looks interesting:

and I found a Shop Fox version on the Grizzly sit (also sold on Amazon) Grizzly GO587.

Any ideas out there.

Right now with the downturn and the heavy use of CNC there is a glut of VERY HEAVY commercial pin routers on the market. I have seen SCMIs go for under 1k, and old olivers and such go for even less. I would like one myself but work sucks here and I am trying not to buy tools, but I have been watching.:)

For those kind of prices I would not even think of building one.
