I've seen nothing but glowing comments for Lee's Shark Guards. Has anyone used it specifically on their SawStop? If so, why is there a need to use a different riving knife? Also, which thickness for the riving knife would you recommend? Lastly, are you happy with the interface with the SawStop (i.e., fit, no false brake activations, etc) and its dust collection capabilities? Thanks

Google "shark guard" and ask Lee this very question. He is a member here but I'm sure is too busy to check The Creek very much.

Hi Don,
I worked with Lee a year or so ago with developing a blade level DC attachment for my SS. I bought an extra blade guard, sent it to him, and he made a new riving knife that was a heavier guage steel and had appropriate holes to mount a Sharkguard. I was supposed to check the fit on the saw and he was going to attach a SG when returned to him. I had to enlarge the holes for the pins in the knife holder on the saw, and I had to adjust the knife holder for the increased thickness as well. I dropped the ball at that point and didn't send it back for him to add the guard. I have a high ceiling above the saw and was trying to figure out a way to suspend the hose from above and how to hook up with the same gate that controls the DC lower hose. I just got busy and forgot about it. I have since wondered how much I would really use it and haven't had the drive to finish the project. Lee was very helpful and eager to design one for the SS crowd so I bet if you contacted him he would be glad to advise/help out. I my just get the d#$% thing done one of these days. JCB.

Here are pics. I used a 3" flex hose and an adaptor that reduced the 3" hose down to 2.5" I notched that adaptor to fit better and glued it to the shroud with clear silicone. I was able to use one of the stock holes in the stock riving knife from the sawstop guard.
