This piece of Elm did not want to keep its bark on. I used 3 tubes of CA at the bark line trying to keep all in place but still lost about and inch. 3 Tall carved feet on this 8X4.5 piece completes the form. Finished with 3 coats of DO and buffed.Questions, comments and critiques always welcome...Bill...

Beautiful Bill. Really like the finish. I am going to have to try doing a foot on a bowl when I get time. Yea in 330 days I can do it.:D

Very nice NE Bill! Really like the darker color of the elm! Good form and finish! Great job on the feet! Adds a lot of character! Very nice work!

;) Still looks great, I've had similar incidents but with a lot of CA and bark shavings stuffed under the void of the bark, I was able to salvage the NE. Great work with the foot.

Bernie keep busy and the retirement day will be here before you know it. And to help your fellow workers out start dropping hints about a retirement gift early...Bill...

Very nice, do you have any photos of the bottom, so I can steal your design for the feet? They look very impressive from the side.

Ron afraid I do not have full on bottom pics. The sides taper down and through the bottom if that makes any sense. The 3 feet are the remains of one large ring turned on the bottom that was pretty much flush with the tennon. Unwanted wood was then carved/sanded out...Bill..

Very nice looking NE and the "feet" are a nice, different look.

I remember Travis Stinson used to include similar feet on his stuff back when he was turning:D

Thanks Bill,
That's kind of what I thought I saw. Once again, very nice.

Ron: I stumbled across a bottom pic from an earlier bowl. I no longer leave the big ridge leading to the foot. I instead leave to foot stand-alone with the bottom continuing the curve from the interior foot to the center. But this works too and is a bit more simple for an early attempt...Bill...

Bill, nice bowl. I haven't tried any feet as yet. Very cool.

Thanks for the pic Bill, I 've got it now. Someday winter will be over and I can retreat to my unheated shop and give this a try.
