How does Baby Poop Mustard Yellow sound to go with my new pastel floor mats? http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=10364 (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=10364)
Couldn't stand it another second. Even with Viagra shoved in the DC port, the old Cman couldn't stand up to the Job.
45 Hours phone call to my garage Tool Crib/Amazon did good. $50 off no tax, no S&H. Helps to have them just to the west in NO Dak.

I got (just in case you can't read card board box) the Left Tilt 5HP PM 66 50" fence and table with mobil base.
Sorry John, lots of good stuff goes into your shop but nothing comes out? On the other hand Katy TX, Laguna Beach, Ca and even Green Bay Cheeseville are pumping out product like nobodies business. Must be the saw!

Thanks for looking.
PS if my arrangement looks a little precarious (sp) It all got home safe. In my rock and roll days we didn't have roadies, Did all the loading and rigging our selves.;)

Well, at least it ain't purple! :D Good for you, my friend! :D I still like my BW, but if I had been able to swing it at the time, a PM was high on my list, as well. But hey, it's all "in the family", right?! Have fun with it and we WILL be expecting pics of BOTH, setup AND product(s)!

Whooooa...You've got a load on your hands there, partner. Congrats on the new acquisition!

As far as the color scheme goes, welllll....The PM baby poop mustard yellow isn't perfect with the Romper Room building block red, blue, yellow and green, but it'll be okay as soon as you put some Spongebob decals on it. Our grandaughter might have a few extra lying around if you need some.;)

With 5 horses, you'll be making some serious sawdust!

Thanks guys for all the kind words. Now if you will all show up about 8:AM Monday we can move it down to the shop. It will take all of us. Going to check one more source and then I may hire pros to move it. Knees and back ain't what they use to be. Same with all my (aging) buds.

It took longer to decide on this than a wife:o .......Think the PM may last longer:p .

Enjoy the saw, if you need help setting it up give me a ring. I use to have one before the Minimax.Steve, I just may do that, If nothing else stop by for a beer. I almost jumped on yours when it hit the mareket. I still had too much Jet blood running in my veins at the time. All better now.:D

Hey, I thought you bought a FELDER’s sliding table a couple of months back while you were at one of the shows. I asked you about it but you never responded. Did I get that picture wrong or do you have a collection of quality saws as a hobby? Congrats on your membership to the “Gold Club or the Stinky Poop Yellow Group”. If I ever get back to my own shop from all of the outside activities (mowing, gardening, maintenance, etc.), I hope to finish my updated overhead arm on my own yellow bird. We are already eating the benefits of our first planting from the garden and getting ready for the second planting. Did you get the PM mobile base for your 66? Now that you are a member of such a “Gold Standard”, we expect your next and future postings to be of the highest integrity.

Enjoy and happy fourth.

Boyd :D

Tyler, I'm glad I read your post. I was avoiding it like I tend to avoid most of the dirty diapers around my house. :D

I'm sure you'll love the new saw - it's the perfect color! But ya' know, for as much grief as you give John, I don't know how many projects we see coming out of your shop compared to the tools going in!? (How was that John?)

Have fun with the new saw. How are you going to break the news to the Craftsman that he's being replaced? :p

Jason, Looks like you've missed a lot of my posts, and my bio. There are quite a few pix of what I know. I also make it quite clear I'm a newbie and learning the ropes. I have seen John's work first hand and know he's turning and burning on some fantastic stuff. With the right jabbing and poking he will bring his fine craftsmanship to light for all to admire.
Judging from some of the PMs received all do not share in my good fortune. That's OK I value the support from the WWs in SMC and hope to have product worthy of these pages soon.
The 20lbs sledge and cutting torch are all the notice Cman needs!

Hey Tyler, among most here, you MUST know that I take those "jabs" with a light heart! :) Why heck, if you's guys weren't razzin' me 'bout sumfin', I'd be thinkin' you didn't like me anymore! :o Personally, me thinks you done real, REAL good with the PM! Like I said, had more funds been available to dedicate to just a saw, that probably woulda' been it. Well, maybe not the 5hp version, but.... My budget had to cover several tools, at the time and I think I did OK with my choice. :) And, I have NO doubt you'll be spittin' out projects more than worthy of these pages, too! So there!!! :D

Sledge and cuttin' torch, huh? Hmmmm.....sounds pretty drastic to me! On second thought, sounds like PHUN! :D

Open the boxes and start the pics.

Ed,

I had "picture day" sometime last fall right after a big cleanup. Although I do try and keep the shop on the clean side - no choice with so little room. I do like the Paralok, I guess they went out of business a couple years ago. Fortunately there is not much to go wrong. It works great, locks front and back and very accurate and repeatable. Shame it never caught on.

I made the same upgrade (but ONLY 3hp) a few years back. As others have said we want pictures! Not sure where your shop is but, I got mine into the basement with a dolly with air tires, box removed. Best of luck and enjoy! :)

Hello John,<O:p</O:p

You have a nice, apparently, well-organized shop. Looks nice and neat, and yes one would get the impression it is a runner-up to a Terry Hatfield shop. The picture of your PM 66 does not do it justice, from the standpoint of what appears to be your over-head arm and blade guard. They are not as discernable as they probably could be. Would you mind taking three, or four or more pics of these items? I am very much interested and would like to get a more clear picture of your arrangement. Could you post them here or if you feel that’s a bit too much, you could E-mail them to me. But who knows, maybe others would be just as interested as I am.

Thanks much.

Boyd :)

John A+ for power distribution, looks like a real clean install. Tell me about the "Guzzin and Guzzout" on the wall . I spy a heavy plug ~ 40 amps yellow power cable into silver box on Window frame and then back down behind the DJ 20?? Wad up wid dat? Always trying to improve my methods of work!

Tyler,

The "power wall" is the old exterior wall of the garage, before the shop was added on. It's the closest to the house and seemed to make the most sense to put most of my 220 circuits on it in conduit (the rest of the shop wiring is in the walls). I run 4 circuits (2 dedicated - DC and heat, and 2 shared with numerous outlets). I use 3 prong dryer plugs, and they work great. However I don't think they meet the newer code. First I only use 3 wires vs 4 wires, and second I believe there are some code that refers to twist lock for this kind of installation. That said, the dryer plugs are great, very heavy (I forget but they are at least rated for 30 amps), they are reasonable, I like the right angle plugs, and finally I don't think any of the tools have equipment grounds standard (or at least my vintage). The only tools that pre-date me are my Delta/Rockwell Lathe, and 24" Scroll Saw. The table saw just turned 21 so now it's really ready for action.

Boyd,

Thanks, I try to shoot some more pics later today.

Boyd,

Not much to add. It’s a 1983 Powermatic Model 66 with a 3 hp Leeson motor. It has an after market Paralok fence that runs on a cable system much like an old drafting table. The guard is a Delta Uniguard with standard basket for push sticks etc…, and optional lamp (I really like the lamp). Splitter is the older style Biesemeyer removable splitter. It’s so close to the blade I typically don’t use my zero clearance inserts with it, but I do have a couple nice lexon inserts. I do like the grip tight feather boards. The extension table is a couple layers of Nova-ply particle board, laminated, and edged in maple. It rest on an 80/20 aluminum extrusion frame that bolts back to the cabinet, and on to a HTC mobile base. Dust collection is via a 4” factory port in the rear, although the bottom has been boxed in. I would like a set of HTC rollers for the rear and a sliding table, but I’ll need to wait for a little longer for the tool fund to build up.

Tyler,

Wow, good eye. It’s the thermostat for my 220 baseboard heat. Sort of a temporary installation until I can run a gas line and get a Hot Dawg. The line runs from the panel into the thermostat and on to the heater. My Dad gave me about 6 or 7 when they remodeled. I think I'm using about a 6 footer, although I have a longer unit if needed. The shop is fairly well insulated, at least compared to the house, so I heat to about 45 degrees in the Winter. That lets me work comfortably, stuff doesn't freeze, and I can even finish using Deft (as long as I can stand the fumes). So you cut any wood yet?

[QUOTE=John Weber]Tyler,

Thanks, I was thinking some kind of remote control, thermostat, or line conditioner. We are finding that the gear we use at work can put noise and harmonics back on the line that messes up adjacent equipment. They've had to rip out entire systems that didn't comply. You would think they could test that at the factory, but it has to buddy-up with local power and adjacent equip. first:o .
So you cut any wood yet?

Hell John, I haven't even got the wings on yet. Timing is everything and this is busy enough for only quick shots at the PM. But there is a super S.E.G :D on my face. Thanks and have a great one.
