I was able to turn a couple bowls out of Bradford pear the last few months, so I figured I'd up the difficulty a little. Cutting something that stays out of balance to completion is quite the experience. Measures 8" x 5.5" x 2.25" tall finish is deft spray lacquer. Outside of the bowl finished nice but the inside is a little uneven. I'll be more picky while it is on the lathe next time.

Thanks for the comments. I actually airbrush the paws on and use a fine sharpie for the lettering. The trick is when to apply. I have found that after the sanding sealer works good and even after the first coat of lacquer. If you put it on too early it bleeds into the wood pretty bad.

nice bowl, i would say next time go shallower though, it should get some nice figure for the bottom. great finish too.

Looks like quite the challenging piece! Congrats! I like the way you managed to retain most of the bark! Great looking finish also! Nice work!

Thanks again for all the comments.

Curtis...thanks for the tip. I think I was so concerned with it looking like a bowl and matching the inside profile to the outside that I went right passed the crotch grain.
