This one was a fill in job, while waiting for glue to dry. Made from black bean and silver ash, it is 150mm diameter and 150mm high. Black bean causes me to sneeze profusely, unpleasant to work but is a really nice timber.

Very nice work Jim! Really like the wood colors! Love the design in the lid - especially the pattern in the black bean! Great form and finish! Always a pleasure to see your turnings!

Very nice work Jim. Did you use a "floating" bottom? From the outside the bottom ring appears segmented, but looks like one solid piece from inside.

Jim, very nice work on the joinery, but I wish you had not flared-out the base. In my opinion, continous curve to a smaller base would have produced a nicer shape. Just something to think about.

A sincere thank you for all the nice comments.
Richard, yes the bottom is a solid floating piece.
David, I do use a mask while working black bean, but, the residue on the floor is the major culprit.
Malcolm, If I had made the base smaller it would have made the bowl to unstable, besides a slight "mishap" prompted me to form the "waist".

Beautiful work, I don't know where you get the patience to do all that cutting and glue-up work, but the results are clearly worth it.
