Hi,

Today I went to a local store where I usualy buy my paper backed veneer. On the midle of the place, there was this roll of veneer (48" x 68"). It was looking great and was only $25. I asked the guy why the price was so low, considering it was good looking wood and it was in perfect condition. He said that they recently received this veneer with other they ordered, but were not able to identify it. So, it's hard for them to sale it at full price.

I would love to know what kind of wood it is !

Looks like European Beech to me.

I'd call it birch.

Hi John,

this is what I had in mind. If it's birch, then It's not plain birch. The grain of this veneer is very different from all the birch grain I saw before...not a lot I have to say ;)

We'll see if someone have another answer to my question !

Anyway, the wood look nice and I'll probably use it for some 2-way speakers I need to finish since last fall.

Thanks Jim and John !

Daniel
