I mostly cut poplar and pine with my Delta 10" bandsaw using a 1/4" blade. This week-end, I will be cutting red oak (3/4"). Any suggestions on blade TPI and thickness. According to the manual I could use a 1/2" width blade. Thanks for your help.

Jim,

Are you going to be doing straight rip cuts, wiggly cuts or resaw? If resaw, how wide?

Jim,

Ripping 3/4" stock, all you really need to make sure is that the blade is sharp. You're not putting the stress on the blade that resawing would, and the TPI isn't critical because there's little chance of the saw bogging down with sawdust.

Jim,

If you don't already have a GOOD blade, you will be amazed how much better it works than the factory blade. I use Timberwolf, but there are others also.
