Here is the follow up to my previous post.
I guess you can only post 5 photos at a time.

10x5 Walnut and Zebra wood bowl. My wife kept asking me if I could make a bowl, so this is my first attempt at a bowl. It’s finished with 3 coats of danish oil and it’s very shiny in person. The bottom sits on a rim with a nice relief.

6. Cocobolo mallet. I didn’t put a finish on this and I only sanded the mallet end to 80 grit so it wouldn’t be too slippery. I made this as a functional tool, and I love the weight of the cocobolo.

Very nice. Cocobolo is a great looking wood too.
You don't happen to be from New York do you?
I used to know a John Beaver.

Welcome John:
Good looking stuff! Much better than my first bowl and the mallet is great. I love the cocobolo, too.

All the best.

I love the bowl, the contrast in the two woods is great.

John - very nice work once again! I've been turning for a shade over 4 years now and I have yet to turn a mallet! Really like yours - both the style and your choice of wood!

Looking forward to seeing more of your turnings real soon!

Nice mallet. Is that about a $100 piece of Cocobolo?

Very, very nice work. I love the wood choices on the bowl. You really seem to have an eye for wood turning and the talent to go along with it.

Thanks everyone for the comments. The positive responses really make it feel like it's worth the effort to do the work.

John Shuk: re: "am I from New York." Nope I live on the other coast.

Terry Quiram: re: the cost of the cocobolo. Fortunately I picked up a scrap end so there was no real cost to me.
