For the last week or so I have been trying to view the Tools for Working Wood web site, but have not been able to. :( Lately I just get a blank screen or an error message. Is this just a problem with the web site or did the economy take them down?

Site works fine for me.
I had a problem one time that my web browser kept blocking sites and had to reset it.
Worth looking into.

It works fine for me, too. I wonder if you made any changes to any firewall you might have?

Just checked on "Safari" and it worked. Can you try an alternate web browser?

Ok I don’t understand what is happening. I have 3 computers, two operating systems with 4 different browsers and none of them can contact the Tools for Working Wood web site. One computer has no virus protection or firewall. I even did a “who is” search and got the IP address for the web site, and still no luck.

Works for me with IE. At the risk of belaboring the obvious, if you're accessing from a shortcut or favorites link, are you sure there's no misspelling in the address?

at your ISP, or their ISP.

Who's your ISP? Did you run a tracert? If so, where did it timeout?

C:\>tracert www.toolsforworkingwood.com<Enter>

Mine goes thru Level3 in Chicago, NTT in Chicago, looks like NTT in San Jose, and finally NTT and Verio in Milipitas, CA,.

What IP did your whois resolve to? Did you do a local nslookup?

C:\>nslookup www.toolsforworkingwood.com<Enter>

Mine resolves to 198.66.236.224...

Maybe your wife has you blocked so you can't buy tools!

I think it was supposed to be a secret!

I can access it fine using Linux with Firefox.

It sounds like you may be running all of these computers through the same router and ISP and possibly a badware or porn filter running on either your router or ISP. It may also be a problem with your dns server. Even though you entered the numerical address, some dns services do filtering. You might try opendns.com

It is possible that your router or ISP has a problem. I would start by rebooting your router. When that doesn't work, you can either try a different one, or make sure any filters are turned off.

If it is your ISP, you may never get them to admit a problem. I always used to have a problem with certain sites that seemed to be related to a problem with my DSL's service router. After a year or so, it went away.

I looked it up on browsershots.org and it is working fine there.

I've seen the Lee Valley catalog referred to as tool porn. I suppose a porn filter would block it. :-)

Thanks everyone for the replies. It did help narrow down the source of the problem. I was thinking it was with my DNS server after everyone said that they could connect. Luke, you hit it on the head, I rebooted my router now all is well. The router never occurred to me. :o

Tools for Woodworking is a great company I would hate it if they disappeared.
