Boy, Take a few years off of my hobby and there are cool new things!

give me the newbie rundown.

is there some pictures or links you guy's have saved that you could share with me.

for things like, what can the laser do? who sells them?

What would it cost me to get an image burned on a small box say 3 x 5?

any other useful info would be great.

I'm trying to read through all the threads when I get a chance as I'm new to this site.

TIA,

Joe Piotrowski

The cost of engraving is relative to several variables. Are graphics included, do you need editing work performed, etc. Each engraver will have their own cost structure so prices will vary, consult an engraver directly for information concerning a particular job.

any other useful info would be great.
You will find plenty of information by visiting the manufacturers web sites, if you have specific questions we have several woodworkers who are members of SawMill Creek who now own laser engravers and are a wealth of information. In the coming months there will be more woodworking shops who will add lasers to their workshops, lasers are coming down in price and are becoming very popular.

Our Laser Woodworking Forum is growing however we already have a good start and there are lots of pictures of our members work and information concerning techniques already available here at SMC. These people can be a huge resource and make your decisions concerning purchasing a laser much easier.

Entry level laser engravers are in the neighborhood of ten grand, if you can get over the sticker shock and keep an open mind you will quickly see how profitable these machines can be, but they are not exactly hobby machines just yet. Don't hesitate to ask questions, everyone here will be happy to share their knowledge and experience.

that was a lot of good info.

that price is a little shocking! but hey Norm's wide belt sander cost that much!

for now, I will have a service do my engravings. I plan on making some dart cases and would like to add some graphics.
I have to build some and test the sales and profits.

later guys. thanks
